Fremont Transient Killed in Suspected DUI Collision Identified

Union City resident Aaron Peters, 33, was arrested and booked after the collision, according to police officials.

A woman killed in a suspected DUI collision in Fremont on Monday night has been identified by the Alameda County coroner’s bureau as 35-year-old Candace Culton.

Culton, a transient, died when a Chrysler Sebring driven by 33-year-old Union City resident Aaron Peters struck her in front of the Brookvale Shopping Center at 35754 Fremont Blvd., police said. Police said they received a report of the collision at 8:48 p.m. and determined Culton had been walking outside of the crosswalk. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Peters stayed at the collision site, where officers arrested him and then booked him into the Fremont Jail, police said. Peters is out of custody on $75,000 bail, according to county jail records.
