NEWARK, CA — People living on the streets of Newark and Fremont will soon have a new resource to make their lives easier. The two cities are launching a Mobile Hygiene unit to provide shower and laundry services to the homeless.
The unit was purchased through a $125,000 Alameda County Homeless Immediate Impact grant.
It is comprised of a 50-foot truck and trailer, fitted with two full bathrooms with showers, including one that is ADA accessible, and three washing machines and dryers. The Mobile Hygiene unit will provide services in coordination with existing food and clothing programs.
