Incredible Photos From the 978 Lightning Strikes on Thursday

Patch readers from around the East Bay shared their photographs of the dramatic lightning show on Thursday night. Forecaster Steve Anderson said the strikes occurred between 8 p.m. and midnight on Thursday from Monterey County up through the East Bay.

The dry storm prompted a Red Flag Warning for fire danger. Massive wildfires have consumed thousands of acres of drought-ridden land in California in recent weeks, including nearly 70,000 acres in Lake, Yolo and Colusa counties and 8,000 acres in Napa and Solano counties.
