Magnitude 4.0 Earthquake Strikes East Bay

The ground shook at 6:49 a.m. Did you feel the earthquake, Newark?

The U.S. Geological Survey reports that a 4.0 earthquake shook the East Bay this morning at 6:49 a.m. The quake struck near Piedmont and was felt all the way to the Tri-Valley area.

No damage or injuries have been reported as a result of the temblor.

In August of 2014, the North Bay Area was rattled by 6.0 magnitude earthquake centered just six miles southwest of Napa in American Canyon. A 4.0-magnitude earthquake in Fremont shook the East Bay in July.
