Newark Man Arrested After SWAT Standoff
BREAKING: Police say it all started with a woman turning him down when he hit on her. Flying beer bottles and death threats followed.

NEWARK, CA — A Newark man was arrested on suspicion of assault Sunday evening after an unsuccessful romantic overture led to a brief SWAT standoff at his home, according to police.
Officers were dispatched to an assault reported in the 7900 block of Thornton Avenue at 5:49 p.m. They determined that Maea Manu had tried to hit on the victim, then allegedly threw beer bottles at her and threatened to kill her when she turned him down, police Lt. Chomnan Loth said.
Police tracked Manu, who had an outstanding arrest warrant for robbery, to his nearby home in the 37000 block of Locust Street. Patrol officers got everyone else out of the home and attempted to get Manu to come
outside, Loth said.
