NEWARK, CA — If you are planning to celebrate Cinco de Mayo on Sunday, make sure you arrange for a sober ride home.

The Newark Police Department will have additional officers on patrol specifically looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

“We love seeing all of the parties around town, but we want to make it clear that this is not an excuse to drink and drive,” Newark Police Department Officer Herrera said. “With all of the ride-sharing services in the Bay Area, there are lots of options to get home besides getting behind the wheel of a vehicle.”
