This week, we're checking out Newark places that specialize in arts and crafts, beauty and clothing.

Our Paper Place: Our Paper Place is brand new in Newark and offers project classes for kids, teens, tweens and adults for $25 to $40, so shop loads of scrapbooking materials and take crafty scrapbooking classes at this specialty boutique. Store is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with late hours on some days for special crop hours.
  2. : Shop a large array of beads, gemstones and bones to make your next piece of jewelry or for a different kind of arts and crafts project. On top of offering unique products like snake vertebras and Czech lamb beads, the Bead Asylum teaches beading classes that teach stitches and wire skills.
  3. : Step inside the neatly decorated nail spa and pamper yourself with a manicure, pedicure or massage. Nail Nook offers the complete spa experience with seven brightly lit rooms, classical music and tons of spa treatments to choose from. So come in to get your nails done before a night out on the town or for something a little less traditional, like a facial or body wrap. The modern day spa also offers an array of different waxing services. The spa is open seven days a week.
  4. : Treat yourself to a little extra pampering at Skin Benefits, a beauty salon that offers specialties like Brazilian waxing, threading and facials. All of the high-quality services are available by appointment only, Tuesday through Saturday so don’t forget to call ahead before coming in.
  5. : Embrace the diversity in Newark and stop in Maya’s Fashion, owned by a friendly woman named Maya. The store focuses on Indian fashions for men, women and children with classics like saris, Indian suits, scarves, Punjabi salware, belly dance costumes and hair accessories. The store has an online option as well, which carries even more sizes and colors.
