Power Outage Affects 1,000+ in Newark Area

NEWARK, CA – Pacific Gas & Electric Co. is reporting power outages affecting 1,034 customers in the Newark area this morning.

The failure began at 7:41 a.m. the utility said. The cause is unknown, and crews are assessing repairs.

The affected areas are roughly from Thornton Avenue to Newark Boulevard, and approximately from Cedar Boulevard to Kaiser Drive.

In Hayward, 1,000 customers are without power as of the latest update at 10 a.m.

Earlier this morning, 30,000 customers in Castro Valley dealt with outages. Most households now have pwer restored.
