Price of Purse Allegedly Prompts Newark Woman to Bite Store Employee

Police officials arrested 42-year-old Anh Nguyen.

A Newark woman who allegedly bit a Macy’s employee because she was upset about the price of a purse has been arrested on suspicion of assault and battery, police said today.

Police said 42-year-old Anh Nguyen became enraged over the price of a Michael Kors handbag when she was shopping at the Macy’s store at the NewPark Mall between 7 and 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Police said Nguyen began yelling and screaming profanities at a store employee and manager and threw herself onto the floor.

When loss prevention officers responded, Nguyen allegedly bit one of the officers on the leg and scratched him, causing a laceration, according to police. The loss prevention officer was treated at the store for his injury, police said.
