Railroad Crossing Reopened After Train Damaged Tracks in Newark This Morning
One of the train's rail cars experienced mechanical failure while the train was traveling through the city, according to police.

The railroad crossing at Cedar Boulevard has reopened after a stalled Union Pacific freight train caused closures this morning. One of the train’s rail cars experienced mechanical failure while the train was traveling through the city, according to police.
The mechanical linkage that connects each of the rail cars together failed on two of the cars, causing the train to stop. When the linkage broke, it caused minor damage to the train tracks, police said. The damaged rail car was loaded with new motor vehicles and did not overturn during the incident, according to police.
