A major thoroughfare in Newark has reopened this evening several hours after the discovery of a dead body shut down the roadway. Officers were notified around 1:25 p.m. of a possible dead body along the edge of the roadway on Thornton Avenue, where they located a man's body, according to Newark police Cmdr. Michael Carroll.
