On her Facebook page, the details of the event read, "Kamala is a fearless fighter for the vulnerable in our society. She's been taking on the big fights by challenging powerful special interests who prey on working families, like Wall Street, big oil, and the Trump Administration. But she can't do it alone. Join us in Oakland to kick off Kamala's historic campaign for president!"
Harris made her announcement Monday on ABC's Good Morning America from New York."This is a moment in time that I feel a sense of responsibility to stand up and fight for the best of who we are," Harris said on the national morning show, according to her campaign. "My entire career has been focused on keeping people safe. It is probably one of the things that has motivated me more than anything else."
