
NEWARK, CA — Alameda County Fire Department crews quickly extinguished a 1-alarm fire in Newark early this morning, according to fire dispatch.
Firefighters said on Facebook, "A cooking-related fire rapidly spread from the kitchen to the entire residence. Fortunately, two adult women and two children were able to escape the fire prior to the arrival of firefighters."
The blaze was first reported around 2:23 a.m. at a residence in the 36500 block of Beutke Drive.

"One of the adult women sustained first degree burns and was transported to a local hospital," the fire department said online. "The Newark Police Department, City of Newark Building Department, Paramedics Plus and PG&E were also part of the overall response."
