Update: All Roads Reopen After Gas Leak Stopped
A shelter-in-place order has been lifted.

Update: The gas leak has been stopped. All roads have reopened and a shelter-in-place orderhas been lifted.

NEWARK CA - Several streets are closed in Newark because of a gas leak, according to the Newark Police Department.

The department sent an alert advising that the "areas of Fircrest Street at Gateway Boulevard are closed along with Jarvis Avenue and Gateway Boulevard. Motorists are advised to find alternate routes."
Several businesses are also affected. Employees and delivery personnel will not have access into this area until the gas leak is contained.

Alameda County Fire, Pacific Gas and Electric, and police are at the scene of the leak.
Residents are asked to shelter in place and avoid the area.
