Tri-City Woman Who Allegedly Crashed into 3 Bicyclists on SF Wiggle Surrenders

A suspect who allegedly hit three bicyclists with her Jeep Cherokee as she fled from a crash in San Francisco’s Alamo Square neighborhood earlier this month turned herself in on Friday, police said today.

Bianca Lopez, 25, of Fremont was booked into jail on an arrest warrant for felony hit-and-run causing injury, misdemeanor hit-and-run causing property damage and driving without a license. Her bail was set at $100,000, police said.

Lopez allegedly fled after rear-ending a Mini Cooper with her Jeep Cherokee while driving west on Fell Street at about 5:40 p.m. on April 2, according to police. She fled the crash, turning south on Scott Street, the beginning of the bicycle route known as the Wiggle. But she turned into oncoming traffic, plowing into three bicyclists and throwing one of them 20 feet through the air.

The driver continued on Scott Street, swerving back into the northbound lanes and hitting a parked Toyota Corolla, pushing it into a garage door in the 400 block of Scott Street. The bicyclist who was launched from the bike was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with a fractured pelvis, a compact fracture of the arm and a lacerated liver, police said. Paramedics treated the other two bicyclists at the scene.

Police later recovered the Jeep Cherokee in South San Francisco, but did not locate the suspected driver until Friday. Anyone with information about the crashes has been asked to call the San Francisco police anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444. Anonymous tips can also be texted to TIP411 with SFPD at the beginning of the message.
