A mentally disabled man has been missing since leaving a Union City care home Thursday evening, a police sergeant said today. Jason Morton, 42, was last seen leaving the care home facility on Santa Cruz Way in a neighborhood near Alvarado-Niles Road and Dyer Street on Thursday around 5 p.m., police Sgt. Shansab said.
Morton is described as a white man standing about 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 135 pounds with blue eyes, according to police. He has short, uncombed brown and blonde hair that is short to medium in length, the sergeant said. Morton suffers from bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, Shansab said.
Shansab said Morton likes to go to the Union Landing Shopping Center, which is located less than a mile from the care home. Anyone with information on Morton’s whereabouts is asked to call Union City police at (510) 471-1365 or (510) 675-5231.
