2 Suspects Arrested, Gun And Drugs Seized In Newport Beach

Two men were arrested in the 1900 block of Sherington Place Tuesday, the Newport Beach Police Department reported.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Two men were arrested in Newport Beach on Tuesday, July 25, after police officers received a radio call from a female who told the dispatcher that a man was holding her daughter hostage.

The call was initially placed at 12:25 p.m. Tuesday afternoon and sent officers to a residence in the 1900 block of Sherington Place.

When Newport Beach Police Department officers arrived to the scene, they made contact with a female who told officers that the suspect and an accomplice had jumped off the residence's balcony and fled on foot.

Responding officers quickly found the suspects hiding nearby. According to the NBPD, one suspect had a loaded handgun and a large quantity of narcotics. They were identified as 41-year-old Brandon Richburg, of Chino Hills, and Phillip Manubag, 36, of Newport Beach.

Both men face several charges, including: Threaten Crime with Intent to Terrorize, Possess Controlled Substance for Sales, Carry Concealed Weapon on Person, Manufacture/Possess Large Capacity Magazine, False Identification to Peace Officer and Identity Theft.
