Airline Issues Travel Alert For John Wayne Airport

Travelers heading to any one of the five Southland airports, including LAX and JWA, were given flexibility to change flights.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Travelers, be advised, five airports in the Los Angeles and Orange County metropolitan areas have been placed under a "proactively issued travel alert," from at least one airline.

In light of the extreme red flag alert in Southern California, American Airlines reported the travel alert for Hollywood Burbank Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, Long Beach Airport, Ontario International Airport and John Wayne Airport in Orange County.

"American has also issued a travel alert for the Sonoma County Airport in Northern California due to the Kincade Fire," officials said.

An American spokesman says customers scheduled to fly to, through or from any of those airports through Friday now have the flexibility to reschedule their travel without incurring a fee.

Travelers can log onto www.aa.com or contact American Reservations at 800-433-7300 in the U.S. or Canada.
