Attorney Majid Foroozandeh Examines Immigration Issues

According to a September 2016 Politico Magazine article, presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are telling drastically different stories about immigration, and both are skipping half the truth. Immigration attorneyMajid Foroozandeh believes both parties are discussing what their constituents want to hear and intentionally overlooking critical economic factors that must be addressed.

“Needless to say that the immigration issue is nothing new and we have had several amnesties in the past paving ways to adjustment of status of illegal aliens,” said Foroozandeh. “Let’s face it, if either party dreams to deport all illegal aliens from just California, it will take a massive effort on the part of DHS and law enforcement, the immigration courts and more importantly the California economy.”

It is not a secret, adds Foroozandeh, that most of the low-paying jobs in the U.S., for which citizens shy away from, are performed by illegal aliens. “Just imagine the impact of mass deportation on agricultural, hospitality, and construction business in California alone,” said Foroozandeh. “It can be severe enough to collapse the economy. The other side of this debate is a part of our laws that most of us practitioners see as draconian as they often destroy the fabric of family units by deporting fathers, mothers and children when one spouse or domestic partner is a citizen and the other is an illegal alien. Don’t forget the inhumane condition and process that illegal aliens face and endure in the deportation process.”

The system, believes Foroozandeh, needs to be reformed, as immigration brings revenue. “Without a doubt, there are those who must be deported, yet this cannot be accomplished overnight,” he said. “The history of any of our past immigration reforms have proven that post-deadlines for compliance we have ended up with a group of illegal aliens who did not qualify for the reform and stayed anyway. Alternatively, they were deported and came back across the border the next day. We must care about our own native workforce. However, unless business owners get behind the idea of paying more to the native workforce, the problem will continue.
“We are at a serious crossroad for many issues in this election, and whoever takes the White House will impact them. Mr. Trump has already said that on his first day in office he will revoke many of President Obama’s executive orders. Mrs. Clinton has her own set of plans, yet as usual if we execute laws and do not consider the aftermath we will be in for one hell of a ride.”
