Board of Education vs Britt Dowdy ? What?!
Two Nmusd trustees make snarky remarks about Britt Dowdy. What could their motive be?
What is the new mantra of the Nmusd Board? “When they go high, we just go low” ?
After the rat debacle at Newport Harbor High School, the President of the Board gave an interview to Stu News (under the heading “Fair Game”) insinuating that Britt Dowdy, who represents the teachers, used the Rat-Out (organized by students who were tired of cleaning rat droppings and urine off their desks) to improve the status of teachers in negotiations.
“Snell also reminded Stu News that the district is in negotiations with the Nmft. And that kind of raised the story to a different level.”

If insinuating that Britt would use a serious rat infestation to improve teacher’s position in negotiations can be considered a lie…it is!

As has been reported by EVERYONE, Britt found out about the walk -out from the Daily Pilot Thursday evening. It happened Friday morning.
Then the Fred Navarro, the superintendent, banned Dowdy from the high school for the next week. Navarro and the board were at a loss to explain this bizarre move. It was a STUDENT walk out, not a BRITT walk out.
Tuesday, 5/16/18 Karen Yelsey (trustee for CDM side of the bay) was quoted in the Daily Pilot talking about one of their “special meetings” that was held at 10:00 am when few people could attend that “she wished leaders of the district’s teachers had attended the special meeting since some items including a pending proposal to start the year earlier would be negotiated in the contract.”
If you actually wanted people to attend…particularly teachers and parents you might think about having not having the meetings in the morning. People actually work for living, trustees!
So, you might ask …why the snarky remarks about Britt?
The simple answer is THE ELECTION IN NOVEMBER. There are FOUR seats up for election.
They can’t answer to their multiple mistakes, so apparently their plan is to go after Britt (who is the face of the 1,200 teachers).
Such a bad idea!
Remember this in November when you walk into that voting booth AND CHANGE THE BOARD!
