Bomb Threat Made At Newport-Mesa Elementary Schools: Police
Police released a statement saying the incident was being investigated as a "hoax bomb threat" involving two Costa Mesa elementary schools.
COSTA MESA, CA — Authorities Tuesday were investigating a fake bomb threat call involving two Costa Mesa elementary schools on Monday, the Costa Mesa Police Department reported.
Costa Mesa Police officers were told of the threat at around 2:15 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30. The elementary schools involved in the threat were not named by authorities.
Students were immediately evacuated to nearby campuses as CMPD and Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue officers flooded the schools and coordinated with school staff to investigate the threat.

"CMPD, with the assistance of the OC Sheriff's Department Bomb Squad, did a sweep of both campuses using Explosive Detection Canines," a CMPD news release read. "After a careful and thorough sweep, both school campuses were given the all clear."
"While it’s been determined that there is no threat to public safety, we will have an increased presence tomorrow at these two campuses," the release said.
