St. James the Great to Host Annual Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, Oct. 4th! St. James the Great Episcopal Church invites the community to its annual Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, Oct. 4, during the 10 a.m. worship service. The beloved tradition honors St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint and protector of animals, and celebrates God's love for all creation. Guests are encouraged to bring their pets to receive a special blessing. Well-behaved animals on leashes or in carriers are welcome. Those unable to bring a pet are invited to bring a photo of their pet, whether living or remembered with love, to be included in the blessing. Stuffed animals are welcome, too. “The Blessing of the Animals is a joyful reminder of God’s love for all living creatures,” said the Rev.
