Calling All Grandparents. Yes, there is a Grandparents Day!
Dinner/dance on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016 at Norrman P. Murray Community Center to honor grandparents.

In honor of National Grandparents Day the City is hosting a 70’s dinner/dance for grandparents and grandchildren ages 5 to 12 years old on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016 from 4-7 pm at Norman P. Murray Community Center, 24932 Veterans Way, Mission Viejo, CA 92692.
Grandparents and grandkids can enjoy a dinner and dance with entertainment provided by DJ, Mad Platter, activities and games including tie-dye crafts and a photo booth.
You will want to come dressed in 70’s theme-style clothing to win prizes. To jog your memory, what did they wear in the 70’s? Men and women wore tight fitting polyester flares and bell-bottom pants with platform shoes and high-thigh boots. Twiggy brought us the mini-skirts, halter tops and midriffs riddled with flowers, peace signs and butterflies. Bright colors ruled in accessories and clothes.

Yes, there is a Grandparents Day! President Jimmy Carter declared Grandparents Day a National holiday in 1978. It is always celebrated the first Sunday after Labor Day.
According to “Education World”, five million children in this country live in a household with a grandparent present. Grandparents don’t just “spoil” our kids, they fill in the gap for many working parents and provide much needed guidance.
Our seniors provide us with traditions, but most importantly they share their wisdom, respect and love-- for countless generations.
Don’t forget to make reservations. Let us help you celebrate the GRANDS in your life.
