City To Install New Fencing To Protect Threatened Shorebird
Newport Beach city officials announced a plan to install protective, natural-colored fencing along a stretch of beach.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — A protective fencing will soon be installed along beach dunes between B Street and the Wedge in Newport Beach to protect the Western Snowy Plover, a small shorebird that nests in the area at various points in the year, The Orange County Register reported.
The barrier will replace the rotting red wood-slat fencing that was initially installed in 2011.
The fence is designed to protect the Western Snowy Plover and their habitat. According to the report, the new fencing will be natural-colored in order to satisfy residents who complained about “eyesore fencing.”
