College Friends Who Covered Up Death Of OC Teen Sentenced: Prosecutors
19-year-old Jack Elliot was killed when he was "playfully shoved" while hanging out on a boat with several friends on a Texas lake.
NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Three people were sentenced for covering up details of the boating death of a 19-year-old Newport Beach teen, the Orange County Register reported.
Jack Elliott, a 19-year-old Texas Christian University freshman from Newport Beach, was killed in October 2019 after the girl he was kissing gave him a "playful little shove" that sent him overboard and into the propeller of the boat he and his friends had been hanging out on, according to a previous Patch report.

Delaney Brennan of Huntington Beach, Elle Weber of Hermosa Beach and Carson Neel of Cedar Park, Texas, were sentenced to five days each in a Texas jail on Thursday, the OC Register reported.
Along with jail time, they all received two years probation and 80 hours of community service.

Elliot's father, Brett, called out the defendants in court for leaving his son in the lake after apparently searching only a few minutes. He also criticized them for supplying police with misinformation about who was driving the boat, and how Jack fell off.
