Extreme Tides, Big Waves Expected Along OC Coast: Newport Beach

Big waves continue, along with localized beach erosion and dangerous swimming conditions; minor coastal flooding possible.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Orange County beaches can expect more massive waves over the next 24 hours as a new swell arrived to the coast bringing with it high surf to south facing beaches, the National Weather Service said.

The high surf advisory remains in effect until noon Friday, when the swell and surf gradually subside. Beach-goers can expect to see waves between 4 to 7 feet in Orange County.

Surf will build this afternoon, peak tonight, and gradually subside Friday.
