'Eyes of Freedom' Veterans Tribute Arrives at OCC Feb. 20
A traveling exhibit honoring the service and sacrifice of U.S. veterans will be on display at OCC from Feb. 20-23

A traveling memorial exhibit honoring the service and sacrifice of United States veterans will be on display at Orange Coast College’s Student Center Lounge from Feb. 20-23.
“The Eyes of Freedom” depicts the fallen Marines and Navy corpsman of Columbus, Ohio-based Lima Company 3/25, one of the most heavily engaged units of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The exhibit is delivered via R+L Carriers, and includes interactive displays with life-size portraits of 23 soldiers who perished as well as their boots, donated by family members.
An opening reception will take place at noon on Feb. 20 in OCC’s quad, the first in a series of sponsored events commemorating the College’s 70th Anniversary. Light appetizers and refreshments will be served, and Purple Heart recipient and Lima Company marine Mike Strahle will give be on hand to give personal testimony.

Exhibit dates and times for “The Eyes of Freedom” are Feb. 20, from noon until 5 p.m.; Wednesday, Feb. 21 and Thursday, Feb. 22 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.; and Friday, Feb. 23 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. The exhibit will be on display in OCC’s Student Center Lounge, adjacent to the Veterans Resource Center.
