Flash Flood Warning For Orange County Through Sunday Evening

A Flash Flood Warning is in effect until 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22.

The National Weather Service in San Diego issued a* Flash Flood Warning for Orange County until 5:30 p.m. January 22.

At 2:30 p.m. the National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated widespread heavy rain across the warned area of Orange County and the entire Inland Empire.

Flash flooding was likely with rainfall rates of 0.50 to 0.75 inches per hour will occur through 5 p.m.

"Saturated soils will result in rapid intense urban and small stream flooding which will be dangerous to vehicles and threaten properties in low lying areas," the National Weather Service said. "There is also a good possibility of debris flows and land slides."

The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials.

  • Santa Ana
  • Riverside
  • Irvine
  • San Bernardino
  • Fontana
  • Moreno Valley
  • Huntington Beach
  • Garden Grove
  • Ontario
  • Corona
  • Orange
  • Fullerton
  • Costa Mesa
  • Temecula.

Excessive rainfall over the Blue Cut burn scar will likely result in debris flow moving through the Cajon drainage. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Have a plan to move to higher ground. Act quickly to protect your life. Water is deeper than it appears on roadways and will be moving swiftly.

When flooded turn around don't drown.
