Heartbreaking Photos Of Coast Highway Motel Fire
Heartbreaking photos tell the tale of the tragic Pine Knot motel fire from earlier this week.
NEWPORT BEACH, CA - Firefighters from across Orange County arrived at the fully involved motel fire on Pacific Coast Highway Tuesday, April 10 at just before 5:30 a.m.,
Newport Beach Fire Department, was assisted by Huntington Beach Fire Department, Costa Mesa Fire Department, Fountain Valley Fire Department and the Orange County Fire Authority when all responded to the two-alarm structure fire at 6302 W. Coast Hwy, in Newport Beach, a single story motel.
"Upon arrival, firefighters found flames and heavy smoke coming from two motel rooms," officials reported.

At the time of the fire, the motel was occupied and all of the occupants were able to safely evacuate, they said. One occupant was assisted by firefighters during the evacuation.
"The first units on scene immediately went to a transitional attack on two, fully engulfed rooms. During the initial attack, all firefighters inside of the two rooms were forced to evacuate due to a potential structure collapse," they said.

Due to the efforts of over 40 firefighters that responded, the fire was limited to approximately five rooms with smoke damage to all twelve rooms.
All surrounding structures were protected with no damage reported. Firefighters assisted one occupant with evacuation and rescued three dogs from the fire. There were no reported injuries to any of the motel occupants. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to the delartment.
