Huge Reason You Should Care About the School Board Election!

If you are not currently a parent, it's hard to get excited about the NMUSD Board of Education Election. After all even though you care about kids...your own kids, get excited about reading the sport's section, worry about the kids you read about in magazines, see on TV, and see their stories online, you cannot get all upside about the Board of Education election.

Here is one reason why you should care.....YOUR TAXES. Your taxes are what keep the Newport Mesa Unified Schools going. We are not like a lot of other districts which are mainly funded by the state according to how many students attend their schools.

YOU fund the school down the street...YOU!

So, my message to you, no matter what area you find yourself in...make it your business to find out who to vote for.

October 1 (it's a Monday) there will be a forum called "Toes to the Stove" ! Most of the candidates will be there (interestingly, the incumbents will not). There will be food and entertainment which is unheard of at a forum.

AND....there will be interesting panelists: Patrice Apodaca ( author of A Boy Named Courage, and columnist for the Daily Pilot/LATimes, Cara Boyd...teacher, Eleanor Rebard..CSEA. Colleen Barney...Attorney and the smartest person I know...

Y'all come now...and figure out who will be in charge of your TAXES!
