Newport Beach Dares You to Resist the Force of Kittens, Puppies and a Dieting Princess Leia

NEWPORT BEACH, CA Just when you thought there couldn’t be anything cuter than puppies and kittens, the Newport Beach Animal Shelter officials had to go and dress them up for Star Wars Day, cheerfully letting you know that Princess Leia’s weight loss plan is going stunningly (she’s almost lost a whole pound).

The City of Newport Beach released its latest Pick-A-Pet video titled “May the 4th - Star Wars Episode.”

“Happy Star Wars Day! May the fourth be with you,” Animal Control Supervisor Valerie Schomburg intones from behind a storm trooper mask while holding a newborn puppy in one hand and BB-8 in the other.

From there she introduces Yoda (Tazz the pit bull), two ewoks (Cody the shih tzu and Brownie the poodle), Princess Leia (Sadie not yet available for adoption because her weight loss regime is just getting started) and a brand new litter of puppies and kittens.
