Newport Beach Police Dept. Joins Freedom Ride to Raise Human Trafficking Awareness
The Newport Beach Police Department is working to partner with agencies in an effort to halt the human trafficking problem in Orange County

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Human Trafficking is a global human rights issue that affects local communities, although many people may not yet be aware of its presence or impact. The Newport Beach Police Department is proud to partner with both the Freedom Ride Project and the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force in an effort to address this serious crime.
By partnering with the Freedom Ride Project, the Newport Beach Police Department hopes to raise awareness and move their community to action.
The Freedom Ride 2016, is a two-week bicycle ride which begins in Bend, Oregon on Saturday, September 10 and ends in Newport Beach on Sunday, September 25, 15 days and 1,500 later.

Participants in the Freedom Ride are expected to arrive at the finish line at approximately 1 p.m.; among them will be NBPD’s Deputy Chief David McGill (as a member of the support crew) and Detective Jason Prince (as a participating cyclist). Other representatives from the Freedom Ride Project, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, and the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force will also take part in a brief ceremony to welcome the participants to the finish line.
Coming home from the Freedom Ride 2016, the Newport Beach Police Department will celebrate their finish at the Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort and Marina from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
