Newport Beach Power Outage Affects Over 4K Homes
Residents in Newport Beach reported a power outage near Lido Isle just after 12:15 p.m. Friday, affecting thousands.
NEWPORT BEACH, CA —Southern California Edison customers in the western portion of Newport Beach reported an outage Friday just before 12:15 p.m.
A spokesperson for SoCal Edison told Patch that 4,486 homes and businesses were affected by the outage.
The outage was caused by "failed underground equipment," a spokesperson for SoCal Edison told Patch.

As of 2:30 p.m. there were 896 homes still without power.
There was no word as to when the power would be turned back on, as of this report.
