OCC's Opera Magnifica Features Scenes from La Bohème, More

Orange Coast College will present its annual Opera Magnifica, titled "Sing to Love" from Feb. 23–25 in the College's Music Recital Hall.

Orange Coast College will present its annual Opera Magnifica, titled "Sing to Love" from Feb. 23–25 in the College’s Music Recital Hall. There will be two evening performances at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 23 and 23, and matinee performances at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 24 and 25.

This year’s program will feature scenes from several classic opera and operetta, such as a La Bohème, Cosi fan Tutte, Cendrillon, Amelia goes to the Ball, The Mikado, Lakmé, and La Clemenza di Tito.

The program will be directed by OCC music instructor Susan Ali, and features various scenes of romance.

“We have a variety of scenes-some are couples in love ... some are very funny, for example, a wife knocks her husband out by smashing him over the head with a bottle or vase, and then tells the police chief her lover did it!”

Tickets for the event will run $10 and can be purchased in advance at www.occtickets.com or at the door. Parking is in Lot D, and is free.
