Orange County Business Journal recognizes OCTA program manager Kelly Hart at annual Women in Business Awards

Nominated by HNTB, Hart was acknowledged for her leadership, business achievements and dedication to the community

The Orange County Business Journal recognized Kelly Hart, program manager for the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA), at its 2016 Annual Women in Business Awards Luncheon and Program held at the Hotel Irvine on May 4. Nominated by HNTB, Hart was acknowledged for her leadership, business achievements and dedication to the community.

In its 22nd year, the annual awards celebrate Orange County women who lead by example, demonstrate effective business vision and positively impact the world of business and their communities.

“I am honored to be among such a distinguished group of women nominees being recognized by the Orange County Business Journal,” said Kelly Hart.

As OCTA program manager, Hart is dedicated to enhancing transportation infrastructure. She has managed the OC Streetcar project from its infancy, when the transit concept was just plans on paper. Under her astute leadership of a dedicated multi-disciplinary team of staff and consultants the OC Streetcar has achieved major milestones that will transform the way people move in Orange County.

The $289 million project received approval in the first phase of a federal grant program in 2015 and recently, President Barack Obama approved $125 million towards the project in the proposed federal budget for the next fiscal year.

Hart is excited that the streetcar is expected to start construction in 2018 and be operational by 2020. As a young, talented professional, Hart is not only a great project champion at OCTA, but she is a new mother, demonstrating that you can achieve a work/life balance if you are willing to work hard at it.
