2nd District Supe. Foley Pledges $15K To Repair Damaged Costa Mesa Train Depot
Vandals wrecked the roof & grounds surrounding the Orange County Model Engineers Train Depot this week. Now, the community rallies to help.

COSTA MESA, CA — Orange County Model Engineers suffered damages to their building at Fairview Park over the long weekend, the group reported. Vandals caused "mostly external" and extensive damage to the exterior of the train depot, according to a report from the Daily Pilot.
Vandals tore shingles from the roof, and picnic tables were smashed but no trains were damaged in the incident, according to reports. They pried roll-up windows back, and the water supply to the station was also damaged. The destruction was reported to the Costa Mesa Police Department on Wednesday and estimated at $10,000 for repairs.
Now, Supervisor Katrina Foley of the 2nd District is seeking support in helping the group, which has brought joy to so many in Costa Mesa and beyond. The group currently has six engines and over 45 bench cars for the public to ride.
