Three Arrested In Massive Skateboarding Melee At OC Skate Park
Skateboarding may not be a crime but vandalism is. OC officers broke up a crowd of hundreds of skateboarders on a vandalism complaint.

COSTA MESA, CA — A massive alleged vandalism disturbance occurred at Volcom Skate Park Sunday, involving over 100 skateboarders and fans police said.
Two men and a 17-year-old boy were arrested following accusations of threatening behavior directed toward an officer responding to a vandalism complaint at the Skate Park, police reported Monday.
Police were called about 8 p.m. Sunday to the park at 900 Arlington Drive on reports that "several dozen vandals" were spray-painting inside the facility, according to Costa Mesa police.

The officer who arrived at the facility, the first at the scene, encountered between 100 to 200 subjects who encircled the officer in a threatening manner, according to police.
According to the official report, the officer said many of them "challenged the officer's authority, yelled profanities and banged their skateboards on the ground angrily."

Backup was called, and Newport Beach police and Orange County sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene, as did officers working nearby at the Orange County Fair. Approximately 50 officers were needed to disperse the crowd.
Multiple arrests were made during the crowd dispersal according to official reports.
Josue D. Rivera, 22, of Costa Mesa, was arrested on suspicion of refusing to disperse, resisting arrest and using threatening language in public; Jovanovic I. Alexander, 21, of Costa Mesa was arrested on suspicion of refusing to disperse and resisting arrest; and the teenager was arrested on suspicion of vandalism, instigating a riot, refusing to disperse and using threatening language in public.
