Video Shows Scary Landing At JWA Amid Tropical Storm Hilary
Dozens of residents were stranded on a plane at John Wayne Airport during the tropical storm Sunday, the Orange County Fire Authority said.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Dozens of residents were rescued from a stranded plane at John Wayne Airport Sunday night, the Orange County Fire Authority reported.
Firefighters were called to John Wayne Airport when a 737 Alaska airlines plane experienced an issue while taxi-ing to the gate after landing.
According to the Orange County Register, the plane was having "an issue with its landing gear"

Upon arriving, firefighters worked with airport staff and the pilots of the plane to safely get everyone off the plane.
"Airport emergencies are just one of the many things OCFA firefighters train on," an OCFA statement read. "That joint training with airport staff makes these incidents run smoothly."

One passenger returning home on the flight from Seattle recorded a video of bright white sparks flying over a rainy runway as the engine appeared to scrape across the ground.
"I was panicking," Abhinav Amineni, an Orange County high school student who shot the video, told KABC-TV. “When I first saw the sparks I thought the plane was going to catch on fire.”
No injuries were reported and no further information was available.
