She's smart ...okay everyone always says that about candidates, but she really is. She cares so much about her own kids, and worries that during this huge commitment of time they are not getting enough attention from her. She cares about all the Newport Mesa students. I know this because she asks good insightful questions about schools in every part of town. Amy is unafraid. She is a little shy I think, but stands up and speaks as easily before the Board of Education as she does before 15-35 people in someone's living room. She's as serious as a heart attack regarding everything from Swun math to science classes, teachers materials, and sports fields. Amy will be a great board member and I am really enthusiastic about supporting her.

MICHAEL

Michael is the dad who everyone wants. He is fun and funny. He is also super involved with his own kids but has gone out time after time to work for kids in school. He asks intelligent questions, and best of all, he searches for reasonable solutions. He will be very careful about the taxpayer's money. He thinks of himself as a money man, and he is. Michael is extremely independent. I'm not sure that I have ever met anyone who thinks quite as independently as Michael. He is a one-man education entrepreneur who thinks clearly and is not afraid to ask the hard questions, and listens for the answers. When he is on the board everyone better come with their best game. I actually cannot wait to vote for him...is it time yet?

LESLIE

Leslie is very quick. She is quick to understand what is being said and quick to pose exactly the right questions. The term "well considered" could be beside her photo in the dictionary. On the board Leslie will weigh everything carefully; the viability, the money, the need, and the human consequences before she makes any decision. She is extremely serious with a great smile and a sense of humor. She gets things done. She won't linger with a lot of anecdotal details during a board meeting and she will want answers and decisions publicly (keeping the promise of transparency).Leslie will make a great board member. I am happy to support her. I think it's crucial that these new candidates are elected. It means your tax dollars and much more importantly the children who need the best education possible.
