Young The Giant Opens FivePoints Concert Venue

Young The Giant opens the 2017 fall season at the new Orange County Park venue at Fivepoints Amphitheatre. More great lineups this weekend.

IRVINE, CA — Young the Giant opens the new concert venue at the Orange County Great Park near the old Irvine Meadows. A local band, featuring Sameer Gadhia, Jacob Tilley, Eric Cannata, Payam Doostzadeh and Francois Comtois, will be the inaugural show to the new FivePoint Amphitheatre.

The outdoor Orange County concert venue was erected to fill the void left by the closure of Irvine Meadows after 35 years. Having a local band guarantees to fill the stands that have gotten residents talking. Questions abound regarding security, bathrooms, parking fees and online processing charges.

The new concert venue, built by developer Five Point Holdings with Live Nation Entertainment, is on 45 acres next to the Orange County Great Park, which is less than two miles from where Irvine Meadows was located.

The 12,000-seat venue has parking for 4,000 vehicles and is a five- minute walk from the Irvine Transportation Center -- for concertgoers who take Metrolink to the show. Parking for events should be reviewed online before driving, but expect most LiveNation events to offer free parking. There are ride sharing pick up and drop off points designated at the venue.

The new theater is meant to be temporary, and the venue has plans calling for a permanent outdoor concert venue in the park by 2020.

"FivePoint Amphitheatre is the result of what happens when a community comes together to prioritize what's important to them, and companies like Live Nation and FivePoint respond by stepping up to work collaboratively with city leaders," said Brett Gallagher, president of Southern California Live Nation. "We're proud of the lead role we're playing in delivering a visually stunning, high-quality event venue to music fans working with FivePoint and the City of Irvine."
