• Freedom Park Improvements Unveiled (theriolindanews.com) — Freedom Park at McClellan Park just received new picnic tables, barbecues, and surface upgrades thanks to the Rotary Club of Foothill-Highlands, which serves North Highlands and nearby communities. The club also partners with the North Highlands Parks and Recreation District and is considering a peace pole honoring the neighborhood’s many languages. 
• San Juan Water District faces $21M budget gap from improvement projects (sacbee.com) — North Highlands customers who get water through Sacramento Suburban Water District are indirectly affected as San Juan Water District plans a 2026-27 budget with a $21.3 million gap driven by big infrastructure projects. The district says it’s using reserves for upgrades like a new Kokila Reservoir and pipe replacements, not facing a crisis, and will hold a June 17 budget hearing.
