Armed Man Forces Way Into Apartment In Valley SWAT Standoff

A man forced his way into a Valley Village apartment armed with a knife, but the resident was able to escape before a standoff ensued.

VALLEY VILLAGE, CA — A SWAT Team surrounded an apartment in the Valley Village area Monday morning as a man possibly armed with a knife barricaded himself inside.

Police were called to the 12300 block of Riverside Drive at about 3:30 a.m. Monday on a report that the man had forced his way into the home, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The person inside the apartment got out safely, and the man was believed to be alone inside, police said.
