Bomb Threat Closes North Hollywood Streets, Red Line

A driver flagged down an officer and claimed to have a bomb, but the threat turned out to be false.

Updated: A man made an idle threat when he said he had a bomb in his vehicle during a traffic stop in the area of Lankershim Boulevard and Cumpston Street in North Hollywood this afternoon, according to Los Angeles police.

The area was cleared and the nearby Metro Red Line station at 5391 Lankershim Blvd. was closed until a bomb squad arrived and determined there was no bomb.

The man has been detained, but it’s unclear if he will be arrested, says Officer Norma Eisenman of the LAPD’s Media Relations Division.
