Producers Suzanne Matlack DeLaurentiis, Dale Fabrigar, and Nicole Mendez host The Fighting Quaker, a landmark theatrical event celebrating America's 250th anniversary. Directed by Bryan Rasmussen and written by the late Ann Matlack DeLaurentiis and Tricia Aurand, the 40-minute drama brings to life the remarkable and largely forgotten story of Timothy Matlack — the man who hand-inscribed the final official copy of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. 
The evening is a fundraiser benefiting the Mendez National Institute of Transplantation Foundation (MNITF), which raises awareness for kidney disease and organ donation. The event will include a festive food and drinks reception, gift bags, a VIP gifting suite, and an exclusive meet-the-cast experience following the performance. Attire is cocktail and business.
The Fighting Quaker traces Matlack's journey from debtor's prison to the halls of the Second Continental Congress, where — on the recommendation of Benjamin Franklin — he took quill in hand and preserved the most important document in American history. A colonel who crossed the Delaware, and later championed the abolition of slavery, Matlack was a man whose convictions grew stronger even as his world grew harder. The play's message resonates far beyond the 18th century: studies show that writing by hand activates more brain circuits than typing, strengthening memory, comprehension, and language development — and in today's digital world, Matlack's act of penmanship stands as both legacy and call to action.

The Fighting Quaker: Bringing America's 250th Birthday to the Stage

Writer, producer, director, and performer Alli Herman makes her Fringe debut as THE Anna Nicole Smith in this one-woman show that shines a light on the real cost of fame.
Following the tense litigation around her late husband’s estate, Anna Nicole Smith attempts to contact the spirit of J. Howard Marshall in search of comfort and guidance. A nationally featured music event is coming to North Hollywood, and it’s happening right on Lankershim. 
The Electric Moon Foundation — recently highlighted on The Kelly Clarkson Show — will present a full live performance of Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged at Universal Bar (4093 Lankershim Blvd) on Saturday, June 13th. The entire set will be performed by established Los Angeles songwriters in an intimate, one‑night‑only setting.
The evening will also include raffles, giveaways, and a silent auction featuring signed memorabilia and original artwork. All proceeds support Electric Moon Foundation’s free music lessons, instruments, mentorship, and creative programs for vulnerable youth across Los Angeles.

A nationally featured music event is coming to North Hollywood, and it’s happening right on Lankershim.

Join us for the next Big Band Series at the Historic American Legion Post 43, Hollywood, CA with the Big Band Alumni and vocalists Bill A. Jones and &amp; Nancy Osborne for an afternoon of live music and swing dancing from 2:00 - 4:00 pm in the Cabaret Room of this Historic venue. $20 entry, free parking.
The Big Band Alumni was formed in 1999 by musicians who performed with the original 'name' bands, such as Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Harry James, Count Basie, and Les Brown - and has played weekly ever since - over 1000 performances. It is today considered the premier Big Band in Southern California, and is to LA what The Preservation Hall Dixieland Band is to New Orleans - delivering Big Band Jazz, Swing, and Classic Vocal Pop Standards - all with danceable tempos.
Today's Alumni Band members are themselves LA music institutions, having performed with such pop icons as Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Rod Stewart, Elvis Presley, and even Lady Gaga. Band leader &amp; singer Bill A. Jones was in the cast of Glee, and female singer Nancy Osborne is herself Grammy nominated.
