Celebrate the 75th anniversary of The Grapes of Wrath with the National Steinbeck Center and the artists who took part in The Grapes of Wrath Journey, an October 2013 retracing of the route taken by the Joad family. The artists sought to discover the experiences of individual Americans today and bring them to light in a way that reflects the ideas of Steinbeck’s masterpiece.

The program features Steinbeck scholar Susan Shillinglaw, filmmaker P. J. Palmer, playwright Octavio Solis, and linoleum block artist and community historian Patricia Wakida, as well as the staff of the National Steinbeck Center in an intimate salon experience.

Before the discussion, join us for a reception beginning at 6:00 p.m. to experience the works that the artists created as part of The Grapes of Wrath Journey, explore the Route 66 exhibition, and contribute to a Lego model of Route 66 inspired by your own travels. Drinks and light refreshments will be available for purchase.
