City Council Candidates to Debate Tonight

Seats are limited as six council candidates vie to win over North Hollywood voters.

A debate among six candidates seeking to succeed Los Angeles Councilman Tom LaBonge in the Fourth District serving North Hollywood will be held today at the Arena nightclub in Hollywood.

The participating candidates are Teddy Davis, an attorney and educator; former Assemblyman Wally Knox; Joan Pelico, the chief of staff for Councilman Paul Koretz; Carolyn Ramsay, a former chief of staff for LaBonge; David Ryu, a community health director; and Los Angeles Community College Board of Trustees member Steve Veres.

The debate will be held from 5-7 p.m. at the nightclub located at 6655 Santa Monica Blvd. A “meet and greet” session with the candidates will follow from 7-7:30 p.m.

Admission is free but seating is limited. Reservations are strongly encouraged and can be made online at hollywoodchamber.net/events.

The debate is being organized by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee in an effort to better educate the Hollywood business and residential communities about their choices in the March 3 election.

LaBonge is barred from seeking re-election because of term limits.
