Community Oriented Yoga Studio Opens In North Hollywood

The Soul Shack opened it’s doors on September 20th, 2014 in Green Village Shopping Center in North Hollywood, Ca. The Soul Shack is a small, friendly, community oriented yoga studio that offers a unique and affordable approach to fitness and health.

Founded by two sisters Amanda Clark, 27, and Jessica Clark, 29, it has always been a dream of theirs to seek happiness and health for all at affordable prices. They believe no person should be denied fitness or health classes because of their economic status, socio-economic background, age, level of fitness, etc. It is through their mutual goals that they decided to open The Soul Shack together to share their loving and nurturing intentions with everyone in their community.

At The Soul Shack you won’t find anything but open arms and hearts – yoga that seeks to give, not take; yoga that loves, not judges. For all of these reasons and many more, The Soul Shack not only has employed many different types of teachers from a wide variety of yoga and healing traditions, but also have chosen to keep the studio and class sizes small and intimate, so that they can better work with their students, giving each one of them the careful and individualized instruction that doing yoga safely and mindfully requires. With small class sizes, it is possible to give the quality care and attention needed to truly heal the body.

Also unique to their studio, The Soul Shack chooses one charity or non-profit a week to honor and donate on Friday evenings which is a Vinyasa/Community Flow class tailored to all levels of students. The Soul Shack is always seeking to give back- whether to their students, their community, state, country or world. It is for this reason and more that they strive to not only involve themselves but others in their immediate community as well as with nationwide/global issues or illnesses. So far the charities featured have ranged anywhere from animal rescue, cancer research, to mental health awareness and suicide prevention. Not only is careful consideration given to the selection of each and every charity and non-profit, but the charity and non-profit is almost always chosen by the students and surrounding community, allowing The Soul Shack to impact their friends, family, and community in the most immediate, friendly, and accessible way as possible.

The Soul Shack is an approachable, welcoming studio that strives to move away from the intimidating and pretentious preconceptions that can push many new comers away from yoga. The Soul Shack intends to just be real, with real people, and to take life day by day, person by person, heart to heart. The Soul Shack looks forward to becoming a part of the North Hollywood/ Toluca Lake/ East Valley community and sharing their love and knowledge of health and wellness to all who seek it.
