Coroner's Office IDs Man who Died During Street Race in North Hollywood
The man's vehicle struck a lamp post, then a sign, ejecting him.

Authorities today released the name of a man who was killed during a street race when he was ejected from a speeding vehicle that struck a lamp post and then a sign in North Hollywood.
Assistant Coroner Chief Ed Winter said Samvel Aldzhikyan, 33, of Panorama City, died at the scene of the crash, which was reported at 7:31 p.m. Monday at 13425 Sherman Way, at Varna Avenue.
Sgt. Russell Carr of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division said Aldzhikyan was behind the wheel of a vehicle that was traveling “westbound on Sherman Way at a high rate of speed when it went off the road and collided with a lamp post, then a business sign.”

Sgt. David Delgado of the Valley Traffic Division said the investigation revealed Aldzhikyan was involved in a street race.
Another person, apparently the other driver, was arrested in the case, according to police, who could not immediately provide the person’s name or booking information.
