Tobacco Road is the story of the Lesters of "Tobacco Road," father Jeeter, his wife Ada trying to survive poverty in Georgia the 1930s. Jeeter dreams of planting a garden beside his ramshackle home while dealing with his son Dude who goes off to marry a ravenous evangelist named Sister Bessie, his daughter Ellie May who has strong sexual inclinations and another of chidren, Pearl who has run away from her husband Lov Bensey who paid to marry Pearl for $7.
This rarely performed play ran for over 3,000 performances in its initial Broadway production.
The show will run 8/10/12 to 9/2/12 at The Raven Playhouse in North Hollywood, 5233 Lankershim.
Tickets are $20 at the door.
