Fire Damages Commercial Building in North Hollywood

A fire sparked accidentally, possibly by people living in a vacant commercial building without authorization, resulted in about $20,000 in damage to the structure, authorities said today.
The fire, in the 11000 block of West McCormick Street, was reported around 11:15 p.m. Monday and was knocked down by 64 firefighters in 40 minutes, Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Katherine Main said. No injuries were reported, she said.

The fire, listed as accidental, was caused by “discarded combustibles,” possibly involving people who were living in the building without authorization, Main said.
